Everyone loves a good 4th of July BBQ. These yummy ribs are just that and better yet, they are super easy to prepare and cook. Our favorite part is the finger licking homemade (well sorta homemade) BBQ sauce featuring Mrs. Miler’s Bacon Jam.
Yes, you heard that right, BACON JAM. Insert mouth-watering now.
- 4 lbs Baby Back Ribs (2 full slabs)
- Onion Powder
- Chipotle Powder
- BBQ Sauce (recipe below)
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Cut ribs into 1/2 slabs
Optional: Remove the sliver skin on the concave side of the ribs. This will make them more tender, but may let them fall apart during the grilling stage.
Season with dry seasoning, salt, pepper, onion powder, chipotle powder and wrap in foil.
Bake in oven for 3 hours
Remove from oven and allow to cool (at least 10 minutes)
Grill on well oiled grill at med/low heat for 5 minutes per side while basting with BBQ sauce.
BBQ Sauce Recipe:
1 Jar Mrs. Miller’s Bacon Jam (any flavor that seems best for your taste)
Empty full jar into a saucepan.
Fill jar with ketchup or 1/2 tomato paste and 1/2 vinegar.
Mix with jam in warm sauce pan.
Add 1/2 cup water
Add 2 Tablespoons Rib Rub
Add fresh minced garlic to taste.
Allow to simmer slowly at low.
Whisk thoroughly. If it thickens too much add water or vinegar slowly to maintain a consistently like a BBQ sauce.
